In 1966, Basic training was at Fort Bliss, TX; Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. In 1966-67 was in Vietnam with the 20th Combat Engineering Battalion as a construction surveyor with mission of hasty airstrip construction at Special Forces A camps. 1967-68 post-Vietnam service was at Fort Leonard Wood as Unit Police member ferrying prisoners via a contracted air service.
